At last, on life’s long pub crawl

– Exactly where I don’t recall,

I finally crossed taste’s Rubicon

And left my youth behind

In sweeter shallows of the easy kind.

And at a darker Solstice now did halt

To drink scorched earth, dark rubied malt

Embracing, we are told, the bitter hops of fate

Now surging transubstantiate,

Its tidal foam running back from caramel sands

To fathoms of adult darkness.

And in this first communion, my mission now complete,

Absorbed full realization, that life is bitter sweet.

Let’s just not flirt

Or even skirt

Around the issues of our connection.

We’ve swopped and swiped,

Blue-toothed some bytes

And tindered the touch-paper

Of our affection.

No more quip tease

Nor banter, please,

Cease mindful meditation!

My data’s capped, we’re sharing apps

Let’s synchronize some recreation.

So kill mode coquette,

Go full salami, less roquette

It’s time to seize the day.

But should this thought

Still come to naught,

Then as last resort

Please meet my magic spray:

Brand Poems, Cath Kidston

For Cath Kidston and Becky

Cath Kidston

Kept her mitts on

To pluck rose petals

To stick on kettles.

She knew her chicks

Would love a mix

Of something borrowed,

Something blue,

Something old and something new.

Modern Vintage

Or cozy printage?

Real fashion hints

Or death by chintz?

O, Cath Kidston

You made real quids on

How you’re smuggage

By flogging luggage!

Oh ya…..

Brand Poems, Dove

In a dusty room inside my head

You’ll find the common relics of my former lives.

In attic clutter, sets are stacked as in some lonely seaside shop –

Forlorn and fading slowly.

Saponaceous wraps are first to catch my nostalgic eye.

It’s Lux: The Soap of the Stars, and my mother’s pride, all perfumed pink and creamy.

Palmolive, green and slimy is sweating in more ordinary overalls.

Imperial Leather, yellowing, regal and surely misspelled is sitting alone in dacha exile.

Wright’s Cold Tar, also perhaps misnomer-ed, had ads by Billy and his lovely wife and girls.

Over there, Lifebuoy, the radioactive red tablet glows but grandma said we had no need of it.

If you must, try Shield, she said, it’s for young people who like showers.

Zest, low profile is on test? – You wake up bodies

as well as clean, I think.

In the closet, pure, dense and white and resting on a marble pedestal, Dove is cooing, and

Respectfully reminding us that she is not like the others.

She is indeed a Crème Bar – the richly moisturising antidote to barren skin that transcends mere soap I heard some voice declaim.

But was it just soft soap?
